Our Mission

Our mission is to connect mothers in deep and meaningful ways to sustain them throughout multiple stages of motherhood. By creating purposeful gatherings, we seek to build community by making space for mothers to be vulnerable, trust each other, be validated and supported.

We believe that by placing a priority on strengthening in person relationships, we can strengthen families and communities, one mama at a time.

Our Founder

Tiere Hessert

When I had my first son, I felt an urgency to connect with moms on a deeper level. I felt my identity had shifted in a monumental way. I needed to know I wasn’t alone.

I met amazing moms at playdates, park meetups, music classes, you name it. Yet I always left feeling like I wanted something different in the mix. I craved purposeful gatherings, connection and a chance to talk intellectually about particular topics that moms were always thinking about but never actually talking about.

So, MamaCollective was born.

Nearly seven years (and four kids) later, it’s still similar to what it was when I invited a handful of moms in New York City to my living room to discuss America’s Postpartum Practices. Now, MamaCollective has grown into many topics no matter the ages of your kids, and BEYOND being a mom.

We discuss one topic in depth each time. My goal is for every mom to have a MamaCollective group near them.

There is something missing in most of our gatherings - a spark! I believe we deserve dedicated time as mothers to talk about what is really tugging on our hearts.

I want to make sure every mom who comes to MamaCollective leaves feeling like a weight has been lifted, her heart opened and a sense that she is not alone.

I hope to hand you a coffee or tea soon, and we can talk about what’s on our hearts in a way that will leave you feeling validated, heard and connected. Life is too short not to feel this way!

COMMUNITY

Building Friendships - Many of us do not have family who live nearby, and even if we do, building a tribe of mom friends is a lifesaver. Come meet like-minded moms that want to build a community that supports, validates and trusts each other. Moms have met some of their closest friends in our groups!

Geographic Proximity – Groups are with mothers that are local so you can connect at other times too. Exchange numbers and have a playdate, go for a walk or out for a drink! We think that in motherhood, it’s more important than ever to build a tight network that is close to you geographically.

TRUST & PRIVACY

Opening our Hearts - At MamaCollective, we trust each other to keep our thoughts and feelings private. It’s a top priority and we hope you value it as well.

FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTION

In Real Life - Today, it feels like more and more of life is online. We strive for face-to-face interactions. We know in our hearts that women weave together the social fabric of communities and we want to enable that fabric to be created in beautiful ways, in person.

Socially Distant - During these unusual times, we engage in socially distant practices to ensure connection in a safe, face-to-face way.

COMPASSION

To Be Heard - We are compassionate and empathetic mothers. Many of us have gone through similar feelings and stages of motherhood. We value listening to one another and responding with compassion.

VALIDATION

You’re Not Alone - We are all in this together. As a mom-to-mom support group, there is validation that what you are feeling is normal.

INCLUSION

Respect and Kindness for All - We believe in a just and equitable society where peace and love are afforded to all. We welcome all mothers to join MamaCollective - we’re on this motherhood journey together, and, regardless of background or circumstance, so much of motherhood is a shared experience.
